Meet Our Team
Our team works closely with you to develop your custom e-learning solution. We conduct the requirements analysis, map out the instructional design, and oversee the time management aspects of your project, to ensure that the quality and timeliness of your custom e-learning projects are never compromised.
SilkWeb began as a collaboration between Laurel Silk and Michael Shaw. They came together through their work at various universities in Arizona and founded SilkWeb to focus on the growing need for custom e-learning solutions offered in the United States.
Michael T Shaw
co-Founder & CEO
Mike is the Chief Executive Officer at SilkWeb Consulting & Development. He provides day-to-day operational leadership. He has developed numerous academic programs throughout his career. Mike has co-authored 6 engineering textbooks and published several peer reviewed studies. His contributions can be found in: International Journal of Information and Communication Technology Education, Journal of Leadership Studies, Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education, and the International Association for Development of the Information Society. He graduated from Arizona State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, a Master's degree in Business Administration and a Doctorate degree in Management. In his free time he enjoys serving his community as a volunteer firefighter for the Crown King Fire Department.

Laurel attended Arizona State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Master of Arts degree in Adult Education and Technology. She has over 19 years experience in educating adults through the use of face-to-face and e-learning modalities. Laurel formerly worked for Arizona State University, University of Phoenix, and Grand Canyon University. Laurel spent many years as an adjunct faculty member where she taught English 101 and 102 as well as World Literature to incoming Freshman online. She has extensive experience working in Blackboard Learn and the new Ultra platform as well as Canvas and Moodle. In her free time she volunteers at her local community theatre group. Laurel also serves as a board member at Helping Hands Home Care, an organization that provides care and companionship to the elderly. Laurel helps ensure that HHHC's training solutions for caregivers meet ethical and regulatory guidelines.
Nicole Bremer Nash
Director of Instructional Design
Nicole has been an integral part of the SilkWeb team since 2007. She has created content for e-learning applications, including: writing and editing of educational texts and materials, e-learning design, and storyboards for digital assets. Nicole manages several project teams at SilkWeb and interacts with key clients on college and K-12 projects. Nicole has worked extensively with non-profits such as HuTerra and Women for Habitat of Humanity.
Instructional Design & Technology Specialist
Kate is a strategic, outcomes-focused IDT Specialist with over a decade of experience in adult education projects that combine technology with proven instructional methodologies. She has designed, written, edited, and developed learning materials in a wide variety of subject areas, with a special focus on technical education and training. Kate is passionate about developing outcomes-based education and training experiences that help students and instructors. Kate earned a Master of Science degree in Instructional Design and Technology from Southern New Hampshire University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from University of Evansville. She also has a certificate in Project Management from ESI International/George Washington University.
Instructional Design & Technology Specialist
Jill holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, as well as a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education from Arizona State University. She is currently a certified secondary teacher that is highly qualified with a full S.E.I. endorsement. Jill is a qualified teacher evaluator, and has extensive training with the common core standards including teaching strategies, curriculum design to meet the standards, and the evaluator tools that will be used by districts to assess teachers and staff. Jill has written many undergraduate and K-12 courses as an instructional designer for SilkWeb.
Social Media Specialist
Lexie is a digital native and brings her experience with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, and Google to manage SilkWeb's online marketing and user engagement. She currently attends Cactus Shadows and in her free time she volunteers at Black Mountain Elementary where she helps children in grades 1-6 learn about acting, theatre history, technical theatre, and how to work as a team. When she is not working or attending school she can be found on the community stage. Lexie earned ABRSM Certification from The Royal Academy of Music of London.
Katie Larson is a recent graduate from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business where she earned a degree in Business Administration. In college, Katie received studied abroad in London, where she made new friendships and had the privilege of learning from some of the most intelligent professors and Londoners during her stay. Katie also traveled through much of Europe, which opened her eyes to a world of possibilities. After a series of solo trips and expeditions, Katie decided to take her laptop and small backpack on a longer journey: a move to Australia! Working remotely with SilkWeb allows Katie to chase her dreams and advance her career simultaneously, and there’s no telling how far she'll go!
